How long do you have to repair your home with a reverse mortgage?

I've read that once you have a reverse mortgage you are required to keep your home in good repair. If damages occur, say during a hurricane, how long will I have to fix the house? We have bad weather frequently where I live and I want to make sure that I understand what will be required of me if I get a reverse mortgage. Thank you.

Repairs that occur after the close of the loan have no time limit to get them repaired. We would hope that you can make the repairs as soon as possible to maintain the property, but there are no set rules regarding an acceptable time limit. As you live in an area where bad weather and hurricanes are an issue, please ensure you keep paying for a policy that gives you an adequate level of home insurance. This is a necessity of a reverse mortgage, along with paying your property taxes too.
